Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone maker, released its much-awaited Xiaomi HyperOS ROM today. The new OS debuted alongside the new Xiaomi 14 series, Watch S3 and other tech products. According to The Sparrow News, the new OS package is "the smallest in the industry," with a size of 8.75GB for optimal performance. The company has also integrated an AI model known as HyperMind, which can perform several functions.
As for the roll-out plan, the OS will gradually release in China in December. International models shall receive the update next year. Xiaomi 14 series will come with HyperOS pre-installed. According to Xiaomi, the OS will also come pre-installed on the Watch S3, TV S Pro 85-inch Mini LED and more devices.
The OS is developed using Linux and Xiaomi's in-house Vela system. Xiaomi has stressed a seamless ecosystem experience with the new HyperOS. Examples highlighted in the release include switching camera sources seamlessly during video calls, accessing car cameras, operating a Xiaomi phone's rear camera from a laptop or tablet and connecting a tablet to the internet using a mobile phone.

Clipboards, notifications and apps can be accessed across devices in HyperOS. For security, the OS deploys end-to-end encryption for data transfer across devices. HyperMind, the company's AI innovation, for instance, can switch on the smart lights of a room automatically after learning patterns from a user's activity.
Xiaomi AI Assistant will enable users to access the foundational model's generative capabilities, such as speech, text generation and image search and generation. Further, HyperOS connect to devices such as cars and smart home gadgets in the ecosystem.
On smartphones, Redmi K60 Ultra shall be the next smartphone to receive the update at the end of 2023, according to FoneArena. Xiaomi Pad 6 Max 14-inch, Xiaomi TV S Pro 65, S Pro 75, S Pro 85 (MiniLEDs), Sound speaker and Smart Camera 3 Pro shall receive the update.
