In another incident last month, at least 85 people were hospitalised in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai following a suspected case of food poisoning after they consumed food served during a temple festival in Virudhunagar district.

Following the incident, the health authorities launched an investigation into the cause of the outbreak.

As part of the festivities, food including fish procured from Manamadurai was served to attendees. Officials believe the contaminated food might be the source of the illness as per TOI.
