A San Diego County babysitter was sentenced to 100 years to life behind bars for giving her boyfriend young girls to molest, prosecutors said in what they labeled as one of the most grueling child exploitation cases they have ever handled. At least four young girls were obtained by 31-year-old Brittney Lyon for the sexual assault by her boyfriend, Cabrera, as per San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan. Xzn Lyon also engaged in some of the atrocities.

Troys said the authorities revealed that after police chased the man, police found an encrypted box in Cabrera's vehicle that included hard drives. The drives stored several hundred videos that recorded the couple drugging, abusing, and assaulting children with horrific brutality.

Detectives also reported that Lyon had been secretly filming women and girls in store dressing rooms, bathrooms, and locker rooms. The police later identified further victims, including special needs children, many of whom Lyon enticed using babysitting ads.

You lied and broke the trust of many parents repeatedly again and again for years," DA Stephan added in sentencing. "You presented them to your vile partner and were a participant in this horrific abuse. And for what? What I can only assume is your vile and evil boyfriend's attention, admiration, and acceptance."

One of the mothers whose disclosure by her 7-year-old daughter assisted in bringing Lyon and Cabrera down spoke directly to the court. Lyon, she explained, had initially been regarded as a friend and caregiver. "We welcomed you into our house and into our lives," the mother explained. "Because of that, my family has suffered nearly 10 years of pain and anguish. The betrayal is a wound that never closed."

Sentencing And Legal Issues

While Lyon was given a 100-year sentence, California's parole statute means she could be released after 28 years, once she's 50. This has caused outrage among victim legislators and advocates.

California State Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones decried the loophole, calling for reforms to avoid early release of violent sex offenders. "Following the heinous sexual offenses Brittney Lyon perpetrated against children, District Attorney Summer Stephan did her part to obtain a fair sentence of 100 years-to-life," Jones stated. "Now it is the state's turn to do its part and uphold that sentence in the interests of the victims."

DA Stephan seconded that opinion, adding that safeguarding the children should always be top priority. "The age of 50 is far from 'elderly,' especially in the case of child molesters, who must only be in a position of trust and authority to gain access and sexually abuse a child," she stated.
