Ayodhya is set to witness a significant boost in its infrastructure, as projects worth Rs 2,451.85 crore have been approved for the upgradation and expansion of roads within the Ayodhya assembly constituency. The proposal, previously submitted to the government, received the green light following a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on July 26, attended by MLAs from the Ayodhya and Devipatan divisions.

According to local MLA Ved Prakash Gupta, the sanctioned projects aim to improve road connectivity and ease traffic congestion. Among the major projects, the Teedhi Bazaar–Ashrafi Bhawan–Post Office Road will be developed for Rs 124.09 crore, while the Ranopali–Vidyakund–Darshan Nagar–Bharatkund Road will be constructed at a massive investment of Rs 1,156 crore.

Additionally, approval has been granted for the expansion of key roads, including Kanak Bhawan to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, Tridandidev Bhawan Marg, NH-27 to Ramghat–Digambar Akhara Marg, and Ranopali–Bagh Bijesi to Railway Station. Service lanes around the Mohbara–Teedhi Bazaar overbridge and Asharfi Bhawan to Gola Ghat will also be upgraded.

In Ayodhya Cantt, several roads are set for widening and redevelopment—Devkali–Jail Road, Rikabganj–Fatehganj, Rikabganj–Chowk, Reedganj–Gulabbari, Machhli Mandi–Jamthara Ghat, and the Niyawan Pateshwari Temple to Post Office Rampath four-lane project. The Modha–Maushiwala road will also be expanded.

Further developments include the construction of two-lane railway overbridges at Banbirpur, Suryakund, and Halkara Ka Purwa. A new approach road for the upcoming bridge parallel to the existing Saryu bridge will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 273 crore. The project also includes the construction of 10 new roads in rural areas.

MLA Gupta stated that these developments would accelerate Ayodhya’s all-round growth and greatly enhance transportation facilities in the holy city. He added that CM Yogi has directed officials to ensure the involvement of public representatives in the review of urban development schemes and to incorporate suggestions from local MLAs in ward-level projects.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the need to connect all district headquarters with four-lane roads and block headquarters with two-lane roads, further strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s road infrastructure network.
