Uttar Pradesh: A Kanpur couple has scammed dozens of elderly people of Rs 35 crore by promising to make them young through an Israeli age-reversal machine. Rajeev Kumar Dubey and Rashmi Dubey reportedly opened a therapy centre - Revival World - in the city's Kidwai Nagar, promising the customers to transform 60-year-olds into as young as '25-year youth' through an Israeli time machine.
They lured the gullibly elderly people, claiming that their machine would use "oxygen therapy" to turn old age bodies into young and healthy ones.
The couple, who lived in a rented space in Kidwai Nagar, reportedly told people that the polluted air is causing faster ageing in them, and by using the oxygen therapy machine this ageing can be reversed.
They promised to make elderly customers young in a few months, a NDTV report said.
According to senior police officer Anjali Vishwakarma, the Dubey couple offered two packages - Rs 6,000 for a 10-session treatment and Rs 90,000 for a 3-year reward programme.
A customer, Renu Singh, a victim of the age-reversal scam, filed a police complaint claiming that she was defrauded of over Rs 10.75 lakh on the pretext of making her young. She also alleged that hundreds of people have been scammed for over 35 crore rupees.
Based on her complaint, the police have booked the couple under section 318(4)(cheating) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Teams have been constituted to nab the accused, police said. However, it is suspected that they have fled abroad.
