To ensure affordable and uninterrupted irrigation for farmers, 1100 solar irrigation pumps will be installed in the Lakhimpur district under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana. The scheme offers a subsidy of up to 60 per cent, with a maximum benefit of Rs 2.66 lakh per pump. The installation will follow a first-come, first-serve basis.

Subsidy and Cost Breakdown:

2 HP Solar Pump

  • Total Cost: Rs 1,71,716

  • Subsidy: Rs 1.03 lakh

  • Farmer’s Share: Rs 63,686

3 HP Solar Pump

  • Total Cost: Rs 2,32,721

  • Subsidy: Rs 1,38,267

  • Farmer’s Share: Rs 87,178

10 HP Solar Pump

  • Total Cost: Rs 5,57,620

  • Subsidy: Rs 2.66 lakh

How to Apply

Deputy Director of Agriculture, Arvind Mohan Mishra, informed that registrations began on February 28. Interested farmers can apply online at PMKusum.upagriculture.com.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, solar panels are also being provided to farmers and citizens at subsidised rates, ensuring both economic savings and energy efficiency.

This initiative will not only provide affordable irrigation but also contribute to farmers' self-reliance in the long run.
