Mohammad Amir Viral Video: It has been more than 13 years since Pakistani cricket player Mohammad Amir was found guilty of ‘match-fixing’ in 2010, leading to his 5-year ban from the cricketing world. But fans, it seems, have no intention to let the ‘embarrassing past’ of the player go. Recently, a video surfaced online, where a few fans began to chant ‘fixer’ as soon as Amir entered the ground to play in the Pakistan Super League. The incident reportedly took place on March 11, during the Quetta Gladiators vs Lahore Qalandars match being played at Karachi’s National Stadium.

Reacting to the crowd’s reaction, the cricketer was quick to lose his calm as he responded with a ‘Ghar Se Yahi Seekh Ke Aate Ho?’ (Is this what you learned at your home?). The video of the same instantly went viral and left people reacting. Amir was playing for Quetta Gladiators, for which the cricketer was on his way towards the ground when the incident unfolded.

Amir was reportedly charged for match-fixing, where he was to deliberately bowl ‘no-balls’. The matter took place during the Pakistan Test tour of England. Apart from Amir, players Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif were also part of the controversy, leading to them getting ‘debarred’ from playing cricket. After the ban was lifted, Amir made his comeback in 2016, however, the fans never made him forget the mistake he made years back.

The video was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the user ‘Huzaifa khan’. The post was captioned, “This is a very bad Culture, Fans should be respectable towards players, specially for a player like Amir who had done soo much for Pakistan ... He is Pakistan's pride.”

Taking to the comment section, netizens shared their views. “Had done so much for park?? Oh yes you are pointing his fixing and get pounds in return,” a user said. “When corruption is the norm in a country, people are seen as heroes regardless of it,” said a second person. “Especially for a player like Amir? He sold the country, he can never ever be respected the same as a normal player. He can never be allowed to play for Pakistan simply. The only country where criminals come back, politicians or cricketers,” wrote a third.

“Definitely he has played a part in Pakistan's pride,” said a fourth person. “He’s not the pride of Pakistan he’s a match-fixer damn it so there’s no respect for that kind of person or just let me know what did he achieve for Pakistan?” added a fifth user. “What exactly has Aamir done for Pakistan?” asked another.
