Viral Video: NEET, JEE, UPSC, CAT and such, are some of the most difficult exams to crack in India. So much so that from their preparations and coaching classes to the gap years and more, everything is pretty much a big deal for all the candidates that attempt to crack them. Understandably, the smooth-going of these entrance exams is equally important for the candidates’ parents as well. Perhaps that was what led to this heartbreaking incident, where a duo ended up completely breaking down after their UPSC aspirant daughter was denied entry to her examination hall.

A video of the student’s mother lying in front of the hall gate after getting fainted was shared online, which went viral. Meanwhile, the father of the aspirant was seen crying as he requested the college authorities to let his daughter in. The student, on the other hand, looked composed and confident, as she tried to make her father understand that it was ‘not a big deal’, and that she would crack it ‘next year’.

The girl was reportedly supposed to write for the UPSC Prelims exam, for which the paper was to start at 9:30 AM. The incident, as per the post, unfolded in Haryana’s Gurugram.

The video was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘333maheshwariii’. The post was captioned, “Heartbreaking video. Condition of Parents who came along with their daughter for the UPSC Prelims exam today, as their daughter was not allowed to be late. The exam starts at 9: 30 am, and they were at the gate at 9 am but were not allowed in by the principal of S.D. Adarsh Vidyalaya, Sector 47, Gurugram.”

The post was shared yesterday and pulled more than 2M views from people. Most found the incident heartbreaking and sympathised with the parents, while the rest hailed the girl for maintaining her calm and displaying major confidence.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Heartbreaking to see her mother like this ...but the girl should have been more careful. Staffs are bound by strict protocol any lacunae here and there can jeopardize the whole process,” a user said. “Maybe they stuck while traveling, so they couldn't reach on time. But the rules are the same for everyone. The question is are rules followed everywhere for everyone?” added another.

“Respect for his daughter to be strong in this condition,” commented a third user. “Even though I attended an exam yesterday, they allowed me in after 9 AM too. But in some colleges, it depends on the type of principal present. He allowed candidates till 9:25 AM and closed the gate afterward. He was kind,” added another.
