Viral Video: With lathi as their ‘choice of weapon’, two groups of men, reportedly belonging to ‘different galis (lanes)’, went wild over each other, a video of which was also shared on social media. Reminding netizens of the popular ‘Battle of Baghpat’, the clip went viral. Apart from the intense ‘lathi battle’ that was visible in the viral video, it was the alleged reason behind the chaos that further intrigued people into commenting on the matter; a trespassing buffalo. You might find it hard to believe, but as per the post, the said ‘lathi clash’ broke out over a buffalo belonging to one of the fighting groups that ‘trespassed’ in the area of the other group.
The incident, as per the post, took place in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar. Reportedly, 10 people involved in the matter were later arrested by the police, a picture of which was also shared along with the same video. As soon as the post went viral, people began to share their take on the matter.
The video was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘SachinGuptaUP’. The post was captioned, “Haridwar: A buffalo belonging to one party entered the street of the other party. Then lathi-charge took place. 10 accused have been arrested.”

The video, soon after getting shared, went viral and left people laughing. Most compared the brawl with the popular ‘Battle of Baghpat’, while the rest chastised both groups for their ‘miserable’ behaviour over a ‘petty issue’. The video was shared yesterday and pulled 92K views from people.
Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “They are all disillusioned. They don't care about their loved ones, their family, society, or the country. What kind of a society has this become? Hate speeches have included both political and social thinking in this. Patience has ended. Hatred and anger have increased in place of maturity. This is absolutely not right for any civilised society,” a user said.
“Every person is ready to fight and die over petty issues. The reason for this is that every person is upset. There is no work, no business, there is unemployment. Every person's mind is filled with anger. Shooting at petty issues, swords, sticks and batons are used. Such incidents are happening a lot,” added a second person. “Another Battle of Bagpath-like drama,” joked a third person.
