China News: A 36-year-old woman from Zhejiang province, China, received an surprise when she learned she was eight months pregnant, despite her long struggle to conceive. Gong and her husband had tried various methods, including IVF, but doctors advised her to focus on losing weight first.
Feeling disheartened by her inability to become a mother, Gong thought her dream was slipping away. However, a turn of events changed everything. In early December, she experienced numbness in her hand and went to a clinic to check her blood pressure, which was alarmingly high.
According to News 18 report, during her visit, the doctor discovered that Gong had missed several periods and recommended an ultrasound. The scan revealed that she was carrying a foetus that was 8.5 months along and weighed 2 kilograms.
Due to her high blood pressure, doctors quickly performed a surgery to deliver the baby safely. Fortunately, the newborn is now healthy.

In separate news, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Qinghai province in China on Wednesday, with its epicentre located in Madoi county, Golog prefecture, near the Yellow River's source. The earthquake occurred at 3:44 p.m. (0844 GMT) at a depth of 14 km (8.7 miles).
This tremor follows a deadly 6.8-magnitude quake in Tibet and a smaller 3.1-magnitude quake in Sichuan earlier in the week. Earthquakes are frequent in the seismically active Qinghai-Tibetan plateau, with 102 quakes of magnitude 3 or higher recorded near the epicentre in the last five years, including a 7.4-magnitude quake in 2021
