Hardeep Singh Nijjar Murder Case: The Canadian Supreme Court granted bail to four Indians accused of involvement in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. According to reports, the release order was issued due to a lack of evidence.
India's ties with Canada have sharply declined, with India repeatedly voicing deep concerns over extremism, violence, and anti-India activities in Canada. The Indian government has urged Canadian authorities to take strict action against such activities.
Recently, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed that he had “credible allegations” of India’s involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which occurred last year in Canada.
India, however, has strongly denied these allegations, labeling them “absurd” and “motivated,” while accusing Canada of providing a safe haven for extremist and anti-India elements.
In related news, India recalled six diplomats from Canada after they were declared “persons of interest” by the Canadian government in connection with the investigation into Nijjar's killing.
On June 18, 2024, Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia.
