An Indian-origin woman, Sarina Gupta, has spoken out after being subjected to a racist outburst at a supermarket in Stamford, Connecticut, US where she was told to “go back to your f***ing country.” The incident, which was recorded on video and widely shared on social media, has sparked outrage online over rising public racism.
Incident at the Supermarket
The confrontation took place while Gupta was working at the checkout counter processing returns. She said the customer became impatient due to delays and was asked to use another register, after which the situation escalated. Gupta described the behaviour as completely unprovoked and said she was shocked by the sudden verbal attack.
Viral Video of the Rant
Gupta recorded the incident on her phone, capturing a nearly five-minute tirade that later went viral on TikTok and Instagram. In the video, the woman can be heard saying: “Stay out of America. Go eat your bacon.” The clip has since received thousands of views and likes, drawing strong reactions online. The woman said she was deeply shocked by the experience and questioned how such remarks could be said openly in public.

She said, “I was just shocked I never heard someone say that out loud and in public and what kind of world do we live in that people feel empowered to say something like that?” Gupta also expressed concern about the implications of such behaviour, especially after learning that the woman reportedly works as a nurse.

Employer Responds
As the video went viral and gained massive attraction, the woman’s employer, Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home in Stamford, issued a statement condemning the incident.
It said: “Nathaniel Witherell is aware of a video circulating on social media involving an individual identified as one of our employees. We are deeply troubled by the comments made in the video. These remarks do not reflect the values, policies, or culture of Nathaniel Witherell. We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding hate speech, discrimination, and harassment in any form. Nathaniel Witherell is committed to maintaining a diverse, inclusive, and respectful environment for our employees, partners, and the communities we serve.”
