Paris Knife Attack: A man armed with two kitchen knives attacked and injured three women, including one who was pregnant, near the Paris Court at Porte de Clichy on Monday. Witnesses reported that the attacker claimed he was acting under divine command, while social media video captured him on the street in a cream tracksuit holding the weapons.
Man Injures 3 Women Near Court, Arrested
During a press conference, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez stated that the police have arrested a man who attacked the women with a knife. He also urged everyone to be "very cautious" and confirmed that the suspect was making "incoherent statements." According to a Reuters report, the three women were aged 19, 24, and 36.
The long-haired attacker, seen holding two butcher's knives, reportedly claimed he was acting on a command from Allah. A video first shared on Snapchat, verified by Reuters showed him walking down the pavement, crossing the street, and trying to stab a female passerby, though her injuries are unconfirmed. The person recording the video can be heard alerting the people and asking them to stay away from the “armed lunatic.”

Speaking to the news agency, Mohamed-Ali Bouhadjar, 26, who filmed the video, said, “When I saw him stab a woman in the back, I started shouting, ‘Come on, let’s stop him!’ Several people stepped in; one person threw a suitcase at him. He dropped the knives. At that moment, I grabbed him, swept his legs out from under him, and we pinned him to the ground.” Towards the end of the video, the man is seen being pinned to the ground, with two knives lying nearby on a pedestrian crossing.

Claims Divine Command
While pinned to the ground by citizens, the attacker reportedly repeated his claim that he was carrying out a divine command. He said, “It is Allah who commanded me,” as reported by Reuters. He was later taken into custody by an off-duty police officer.
