At least 10 people were killed while one person was missing after incessant rain triggered landslides in Nepal's Baglung district, burying several houses and sweeping away others. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing a section of the mountain collapsing, cascading down the slope in seconds.
According to local authorities, nine people were killed, and one person was missing in the Baglung landslide on Sunday, while another person died in a separate incident on Saturday.
Speaking about the incident, Baglung Superintendent of Police (SP) Phanindra Prasai said that four people died and one person is missing in Tamankhola rural municipality, while five people died in Nisikhola rural municipality on Sunday.

In Dharansukh, Tamankhola Rural Municipality-3, an 80-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman died after their house was buried under a landslide. At least eight houses in the village were swept away.

In Santar, Tamankhola Rural Municipality-4, a 50-year-old man named Hastabir Shripali and a 65-year-old woman died after being buried under the rubble of their house.
Hastabir's wife was missing after the incident. Four members of a family were killed when a house was buried under debris due to a landslide in Haddhara of Jugjakhola area of Nisikhola Rural Municipality-3.
In Rangil, Nisikhola Rural Municipality-6, a 50-year-old died after a landslide buried a cowshed. On Saturday, Man Bahadur Roka, 59, died when a landslide buried a house in Dhasmar, Tarakhola Rural Municipality-5. Rescue operations are underway.
Relief and rescue operations underway
Krishna Prasad Acharya, Chief District Officer of Baglung, said that timely warnings helped save more lives. A team of security personnel has reached the affected areas for rescue operations. The landslide in Baglung was caused by a prolonged period of bad weather in Nepal.

At least 21 people have died, five are missing, and five others are injured due to four days of heavy rains, floods and landslides, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
