JE News Desk: A Hindu temple in Pakistan's Sindh province was attacked with rocket launchers by a gang of dacoits in Southern Sindh, said an official on Sunday. The assailants also attacked the small group of the small temple and adjoining homes of Hindus in the Kashmore area of the Sindh province.
The incident took place on Sunday when the attackers opened fire indiscriminately at the Hindu temple built by the local Hindu community. Following the incident, a police unit led by Kashmore-Kandhkot SSP Irfan Sammo reached the spot.
According to a police official, the attackers fired "rocket launchers" at the temple, which was closed during the attack. The place of worship generally opens annually for religious services conducted by the Bagri community.
"The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday. They fired indiscriminately and fled when a police party reached the spot. We are conducting a search operation in the area," Samoo, was quoted as saying by the news agency PTI. According to the police officer, the incident included eight to nine gunmen. Dr Suresh, a member of the Bagri community, said that no lives were lost as the "rocket launchers" fired by the dacoits failed to explode.
He dialed the police to protect the community as the incident had left the residents in a state of panic. SSP Samoo assured the Hindu community members that they would be safe. There is a significant Hindu population in the Kashmore region.
The attack comes days after the dacoits in the Kashmore and Ghotki riverine areas had threatened to attack Hindu places of worship and community members over retaliation to Seema Haider Jakhrani's PUBG love story.
Earlier, an unidentified person called Mumbai Traffic Police Control Room on Thursday and threatened to conduct an attack similar to the 26/11 attack if Pakistani national Seema Haider does not return to Pakistan.
Seema was arrested by Noida Police earlier this month, for entering India illegally and staying in Greater Noida. Seema Haider is a Pakistani national who entered India illegally with her four children to be with her partner, whom she met through the game.
