US-Iran War: Exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasrin on Saturday reacted to the situation in war-torn Iran, saying she is not a supporter of the "mullah-cracy" that denies equal rights to women and makes the hijab compulsory. However, she does not support the military intervention by the US and Israel.
She has been living in exile since being forced to leave Bangladesh in 1994, after receiving threats from Islamic fundamentalists for her views about Islam and the Quran.

"What justification is there to bomb a school and kill over 150 students? If your technology or intelligence is so inaccurate, then better to keep away," she said, referring to the air strike on a school in the Iranian town of Minab on February 28.
Hope For Change In Bangladesh Rises With BNP Victory: Nasrin
Speaking about her homeland, she said that the overwhelming mandate received by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the recent elections is more a reflection of the people's determination to keep Islamic fundamentalists out of power than the party's popularity. She said that the emergence of Pakistan-backed extremists like Jamaat-e-Islami as the main opposition party does not bode well for democratic values.
Jamaat rallies attract large crowds, but this does not translate into votes, she said, adding that the BNP's victory demonstrates that people do not want extremists in power. In the absence of the Awami League, the BNP was the only viable alternative.
'BNP Should Guarantee The Safety Of Minorities'
Expressing her concern for the safety of the minorities in Bangladesh, Nasrin said Rahman is talking about the safety of minorities and we hope that the targeting of Hindus during Muhammad Yunus's interim government will now stop.
