Mahindra XUV 7XO Launch Date: The Mahindra XUV700 facelift is expected to be launched in India on January 5, 2026. The brand recently confirmed that its upcoming flagship SUV will be called the Mahindra XUV 7XO. The brand trademarked the name earlier this year, and the test mule of the upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO has been spied testing on the Indian roads more than once. But do you know why the brand has renamed the SUV?
Mahindra XUV 7XO: New Nomenclature
The brand has changed the name of the Mahindra XUV700 facelift as per its new nomenclature strategy. Similarly, the brand has changed the name of the XUV 300 to XUV 3XO. It is possible that the XUV700 was supposed to be pronounced as XUV 7 double O, but people were calling the XUV seven hundred. Whereas the XUV 7XO provides a clearer alphanumeric name. The brand has purposely named their electric SUVs with names starting with the letter ‘X’ (the XEV 9E and the XEV 9S), which may stand for performance. Therefore, the brand may have changed the name of its upcoming SUV to Mahindra XUV 7XO, which is expected to symbolise a blend of performance and comfort.
Mahindra XUV 7XO Design
As informed earlier, the brand recently shared the first teaser of its upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO SUV. The teaser shared a few glimpses of the front and rear design of the XUV 7XO. At the front, it is expected to get an inverted 7-shaped LED DRL signature with a quad-LED projector headlamp setup, which may look very similar to the recently launched Mahindra XEV 9S. At the rear, it is expected to retain the same LED taillight setup as the XUV700, albeit with a few new design elements.

Mahindra XUV 7XO Features
The upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO is expected to share a lot of similarities in terms of cabin with its electric sibling, the Mahindra XEV 9S. In one of the spy images captured earlier this year, the three-screen setup inside the cabin was spotted. Therefore, we expect the upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO to come equipped with features such as a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated infinity logo, an auto-dimming IRVM, powered and ventilated seats, a Level 2 ADAS suite, and more.

Mahindra XUV 7XO Engine
While the upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO is expected to come equipped with several changes in terms of design and features, it will likely remain unchanged in terms of engine. The XUV 7XO is expected to get the same engine options of either a 2.0-litre turbo petrol or a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine. Both of these engines can be paired with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
