Bihar Elections: The focus on the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections has intensified, even as seat-sharing arrangements within the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) remain unresolved. Despite this, the Communist Party of India (CPI) announced its first list of candidates on Wednesday.
In the first list for the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections 2025, Ramratan Singh from Teghra, Suryakant Paswan from Bakhri (SC), Awadhesh Kumar Rai from Bachhwara, Sanjay Kumar from Banka, Rakesh Kumar Pandey from Harlakhi, Ram Narayan Yadav from Jhanjharpur have been announced as the candidates of the Communist Party of India.
The party will declare candidates in the second list for Goh, Kargahar, Beldaur, Biharsharif, Rajapakar (S), Kesaria, Chanpatia and Vikram seats as soon as it gets the consent of the Grand Alliance.
Preparations To Field Candidates For More Than 6 Seats
According to this list, the CPI is looking at more than six seats for itself in Bihar, as it contested only six seats last time, winning two. This time, after the initial list of six seats, eight assembly constituencies are being named.
This move by the CPI could be a part of political pressure. Among the left-wing parties, the CPI-ML performed the best in 2020, winning 12 out of 19 seats. Meanwhile, the Grand Alliance is yet to officially announce seat-sharing arrangements.
Legacy Will Continue From Harlakhi
CPI has released the list declaring Rakesh Kumar Pandey, son of former MLA and party's state secretary Ram Naresh Pandey, who is carrying forward his father's political legacy from Harlakhi, and old face Ram Narayan Yadav from Jhanjharpur as its candidates.
