Scotland have included left-arm spinner Kirstie Gordon in their 15-player squad for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup which will take place in England later this year. Scotland are part of Group B along with hosts England, Ireland, West Indies, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. They will begin their campaign against Ireland at Old Trafford on June 13.
Kirstie represented England in the 2018 World Cup
Kirstie first played for Scotland in 2012 when she was only 14 years old and remained with the team until 2017. She later represented England at the 2018 Women’s T20 World Cup but did not play for them after 2019. That opened the door for her return to the Scotland squad in December last year.
Craig Wallace on Kirstie’s return
Head coach Craig Wallace said Kirstie’s return is a big boost for the team. He said her decision to play for Scotland again shows how much the side has improved in recent years.
“We are delighted to have Kirstie back with us. She is one of the best players in the world and her experience will help the younger players in the squad. We believe she can raise the standards of the team and also continue improving Scottish cricket,” Wallace said.
How Scotland qualified for T20 World Cup 2026
Scotland secured their place in the Women’s T20 World Cup through the Global Qualifier tournament. They reached the Super Six stage after finishing second in Group B behind the Netherlands. Even though they lost to Bangladesh, important wins over Ireland and USA helped them finish third overall and qualify for the main event.

Wallace admitted it was difficult to pick the final 15-player squad because of the growing talent in Scottish women’s cricket.
“It was a very tough selection because the quality and depth in the squad have improved a lot over the last few years. We feel we have picked a balanced squad that can compete strongly in the tournament,” he said.
Captain Kathryn Bryce will lead the team. The squad also includes three players from Scotland’s 2025 U19 Women’s T20 World Cup side, seamer Gabriella Fontenla, wicketkeeper-batter Pippa Sproul and uncapped fast bowler Maisie Maceira.
Wallace praised Gabriella for fighting through injury and illness to earn her place back in the squad. He also said Maisie deserved her selection because of the hard work she has put in over the last 18 months, especially after the U19 World Cup.
Scotland to feature against Bangladesh and the Netherlands before T20 World Cup 2026
Before heading to England for their second straight Women’s T20 World Cup appearance, Scotland will play a home tri-series in Edinburgh against Bangladesh and the Netherlands.
Wallace also spoke about the disappointment for players who missed out, including Niamh Robertson-Jack, Ellen Watson, Mollie Parker and Hannah Rainey. He added that Niamh and Ellen will still be involved in the tri-series squad, which he believes will help their development.
