Ravichandran Ashwin's post fuels rumours

The rumours picked up further pace when former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin replied to a fan’s question about Chennai Super Kings and whether they should target Matheesha Pathirana if Kolkata Knight Riders release him. In his response, Ashwin also mentioned Ben Stokes and a mysterious “07:07” player, which fans quickly connected to Hardik Pandya because of his Instagram story.

This indirect hint led to even more speculation online, with many suggesting a possible CSK link, though nothing has been confirmed.

Hardik Pandya's performance in IPL 2026

On the field, Hardik had a disappointing IPL 2026 season as well. He scored 206 runs in the tournament at an average of 22.89 and a strike rate of 138.26, with his highest score being 40 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

With the ball, he struggled too, picking up only four wickets while conceding runs at an economy of 11.43. His bowling average stood at 64.75. MI failed to qualify for the playoffs as they managed to win four matches out of 14 outings.
