The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Saturday announced a 15-member India A squad for the two multi-day matches against Australia A in Lucknow, with right-handed batter Shreyas Iyer named as captain.

The first match will be played from September 16-19 and the second will start from September 23-26 at Ekana Stadium.

The decision not to include Iyer in India's squad for the Asia Cup 2025 sparked debate among fans and former cricketers.

Iyer was in prime form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, where he led the Punjab Kings to the final, having scored 604 runs at a strike rate of 175; however, despite his impressive performance, he missed out on a spot in the 15-member squad.

“KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj will be added to the squad for the 2nd multi-day match and will replace two players in the squad after the 1st multi-day match,” a BCCI release stated.
