Red Fort Delhi Blast: In the aftermath of a high-intensity explosion in the national capital, security arrangements have been jacked up in and around Arun Jaitley Stadium for the ongoing Ranji Trophy Group D match between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, the stadium is just minutes away from the Red Fort metro station, where the explosion took place.

Notably, a car parked near the metro station exploded, which caught several vehicles in the process, claiming the lives of at least eight people.

"Security to be beefed up near Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (renamed Arun Jaitley Stadium) on the final day of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir," Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Sharma told PTI on Monday.

"I would be getting in touch with Delhi Police authorities and request them to deploy additional security outside the stadium premises," he added.

Indian head coach wishes speedy recovery

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has condoled the loss of lives in the blast in the national capital on Monday evening and wished for a speedy recovery to the injured.

A blast occurred near Gate 1 Red Fort Metro station in the national capital, and eight people died before reaching the hospital while seven are injured, three of them seriously, a senior Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital official told ANI.

Gambhir took to X and expressed his grief and wrote, "Saddened by the loss of lives due to the blast in Delhi. Praying for strength to the families of deceased and for the speedy recovery of injured."

Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan expressed his sorrow and wrote on X, "Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the Delhi car blast near Red Fort. My prayers are with the victims and their families. Let's all stay safe & alert."
