Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have brought in RS Ambrish as an injury replacement for Shivam Mavi for the rest of IPL 2026. The right-arm medium pacer Mavi has been ruled out of the season because of a groin injury.

Who is RS Ambrish?

Ambrish is an all-rounder who was part of India’s Under-19 team that won the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026. He also finished as one of the top wicket-takers for India in that tournament, picking up 11 wickets.

"Mavi, a right-arm medium pacer, has been ruled out of the ongoing season due to a groin injury," said IPL in a statement.

A right-arm medium pacer and left-handed batter, Ambrish will join SRH for ₹30 lakh. He was born on May 28, 2007, and came into the spotlight after his strong performances in India’s successful U-19 World Cup campaign. One of his best spells in the tournament was 4/29 against New Zealand.

He has also shown promise in domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy, which helped him earn this IPL opportunity.

Shivam Mavi has been affected by injuries, just when he seems to find rhythm, fitness issues have set him back again. The speedster forced to miss IPL 2024 and now 2026 due to injuries

Despite these setbacks, Mavi has shown his talent at the highest level. He made an impressive T20I debut for India in 2023, taking 4/22 against Sri Lanka, which is still one of the best bowling figures by an Indian on T20I debut.

SRH's performance in IPL 2026

Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently third in the IPL 2026 points table with six wins in nine outings of the tournament. Their last outing came against Mumbai Indians (MI), where the Pat Cummins-led side chased down 243 runs to win the clash. The Hyderabad-based franchise will now face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 3 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
