Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: India's young sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has been on a rampant campaign as the 14-year-old superstar scored his third T20 hundred during Bihar’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025-26 contest against Maharashtra.

During the match against Maharashtra at Eden Gardens, Vaibhav became the youngest batter in the tournament’s history to reach three figures.

Vaibhav's innings was decorated with 7 fours and 7 sixes to reach the 100-run mark. The youngster achieved the fear in the 20th over of their innings, towering opening delivery from Arshin Kulkarni to the boundary to bring up his century mark in 58 balls.

Before Vaibhav claimed this record, the youngest batter to score a century in SMAT was Vijay Zol, who smashed a hundred at the age of 18 years and 118 days old, playing a knock of 109 runs from 63 balls for Maharashtra in 2013.

Vaibhav currently also holds the record of being the youngest to score a T20 century, having belted a 35-ball hundred in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans.

Vaibhav had a slow start to the tournament as he was dismissed on low scores of 14, 13 and 5 in the last few games, but the youngster turned his campaign quickly and notched up a half-century in 34 balls.
