UNICEF Warning On Girl Education: UNICEF warns on girls' education: The Taliban's systematic denial of education to girls has created a devastating social crisis across Afghanistan. Girls' education has declined significantly since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan.
According to a UNICEF report, by 2025, more than 2.2 million adolescent girls will be completely deprived of education, leaving them confined to their homes, which will have a serious impact on their mental health.
Educational Restrictions Span All Academic Levels:
In a statement yesterday, UNICEF warned that over 2.2 million adolescent girls will be excluded from schooling by the end of 2025.
UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell has expressed grave concerns about the deteriorating mental health conditions among Afghan girls, who have been denied basic educational rights for nearly four years since the Taliban's return to power.
She also said that due to the increasing trend of child marriage among Afghan girls, their education has been banned for almost four years (August 2021).
The ban effectively prevents girls from accessing primary school through higher education, creating an entire generation of educationally disenfranchised young women. This systematic approach to educational exclusion represents one of the most severe restrictions on women's rights globally, with long-term implications for Afghanistan's social and economic development.
