UPPSC PCS Prelims 2024: The Uttar Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (UPPSC) has informed that the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) Prelims 2024 will now take place on December 22 in two shifts. After receiving criticism from applicants about the two-day exam and the use of the normalization method, the commission amended the UPPSC pre-exam date for 2024.
According to the exam timetable, the first shift of the UPPSC PCS exam 2024 will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by the second shift from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“It is hereby informed that instead of the Combined State / Senior Subordinate Services (P.A.) Examination-2024 which was proposed to be held in two days on 07th and 08th December, the said examination will now be held in one day on 22.12.2024 in two sessions ( The first session will be held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and the second session will be held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm,” the commission said in the latest notice.
Following large protests by candidates demanding a 'one day, one exam', the commission decided to hold the civil services exam on the same day as before. The examination was scheduled for December 7 and 8. Due to a lack of adequate test centres throughout the state to accommodate the enormous number of registered applicants, the commission chose to hold the exam in numerous shifts, resulting in a change in the grading process that allowed for the employment of the normalization approach.
UPPSC PCS exam postponement
The commission had already postponed the combined state and senior subordinate services preliminary test twice for administrative reasons. The test, originally scheduled for October 27, was postponed without explanation. Previously, the exam was scheduled for March 17, but it was postponed. The news came amid accusations of paper leaks and recruitment exam cancellations across the state.
The UPPSC PCS preliminary exam comprises two objective-type papers: General Studies Paper I and CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) Paper II. Both papers are held on the same day and last a total of four hours.
