JE Entertainment Desk: Prabhas starrer 'Adipurush' finally saw the big screen on June 16, where the film opened to big numbers creating havoc in theaters as the film received mixed reviews. On one end the film was appreciated by many but the cringe dialogues and horrible VFX let down a section of the audience as well.
Now, later Indian filmmaker Ramanand Sagar's son Prem Sagar also gave his review of the film, heavily criticizing the picturization, dialogues, and VFX of the film, but also called out Om Raut for showcasing the facts of Ramayan in a completely different manner. Ramanand Sagar was best known for directing the popular television show 'Ramayan.'
His son Prem Sagar said that the film should only be shown in Mumbai's Breach Candy and Colaba market and is not worth worldwide release. According to a report in Hindustan Times, Prem Sagar said, "Om Raut ne Adipurush k zariye Marvel banane ki koshish ki hai. Papaji (Ramanand Sagar) ne bhi Ramayan banate waqt rachnatmak azaadi ka istamaal kiya tha. Lekin unhone Prabhu Shri Ram ko samjha tha. Unhone kayi saare grantho ko padhne ke baad chhote mote badlav kiye the."
He further said, "Lekin kabhi bhi tattho ke saath chedchaad karne ki koshish nahi ki thi (Om Raut has tried to create Marvel via Adipurush. Dad too had used creative freedom while making Ramayan. But he understood Lord Ram. He made small changes after reading many books. But he never tried to tamper with the facts)."
He also added, "Agar aapne aaj ki Ramayan banayi hai toh usey Breach Candy mein dikhayye, Colaba mein dikhayye. Worldwide mat dikhayye. Logo ki bhawnawo ko aahat math kijiye. Krittivasi, Eknath sameth kayi logo nein Ramayan likhi. Lekin kisine bhi content nahi badla tha. Sirf colour ya bhasha badli thi."
Prem Sagar concluded and said, "Yaha toh pure tatthya hi badle huye hai (If you have made today's Ramayan then show it in Breach Candy, Colaba. Don't release it worldwide. Don't hurt people's sentiments. Many people wrote Ramayan including Krittivasi, Eknath. But no one changed the content. They only changed colour and language. But here entire fact has been changed)."
'Ramayan' was a television series based on the ancient epic 'Ramayan', where the show was created, directed, and written by Ramanand Sagar and was originally aired between 1987-88. It became the most-watched television series in the world during its run.
Talking about 'Adipurush', the film is a modern-day retelling of the Ramayana. The film was released on Friday in theaters and is directed by Om Raut. The multilingual film is produced by T-Series and is released across India in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and in Malayalam.
