Fighter: Amid high anticipation, the action-packed film, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, garnered attention earlier this week due to reports of being banned in several Gulf countries, excluding the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Now, recent updates suggest that the film is experiencing a 'suspension' in the UAE, with booking options removed from major theatre chains. The decision left fans surprised. Although the exact reason for the ban remains unclear, reports suggest that the decision was prompted by 'some objectionable content in the film.'

Given that the Gulf region is a crucial overseas market for Bollywood films, the ban is anticipated to have a substantial impact on the movie's global box office collections. Before the ban, there were reports that Siddharth Anand directorial was slated for release in the UAE with a PG 15 classification.

Fighter ban in Gulf countries

Informing about the ban, Girish Johar shared on Twitter, "In a setback, #Fighter officially banned across Middle East regions for theatrical release. Only UAE will release the film with PG15 classification!" If media reports are to be believed, the film didn't get approval from the GCC Censors.

The reason for the rejection remains unclear, but it is conceivable that the censors found content that was either highly distressing or objectionable. It's noteworthy that 'Tiger 3' also encountered recent bans in Kuwait and Qatar. A source from the 'Fighter' team, confirming the information about the film's release in Gulf countries (excluding the UAE), has been reported by ANI. However, an official statement from the makers is still awaited. Despite facing challenges with the censor board in Gulf nations, the aerial action thriller 'Fighter' released in Indian theaters on January 25th.
