The Kerala Story director Kamakhya Narayan Singh has finally responded to the backlash surrounding his upcoming directorial, which has been facing criticism even before its release. Addressing the controversy in a recent interview, Singh firmly defended his film, stating that it is rooted in factual events and aims to shed light on realities that, according to him, deserve wider public awareness.
He said, "It’s a fact-based film. There is this kind of thing happening all over the country, where love is used to trap girls, to change the demography of the country. It’s important that the country knows the facts about the situation in the country, how the girls are being trapped, and that is why we’ve made this film."
"See, this is the truth. We can’t close our eyes and say there’s nothing happening in society. There are things happening in society, and we need to talk about it, we need to sensitise people about it. Or else, our daughters, our sisters will be caught in the trap," the filmmaker added.
Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, The Kerala Story 2- Goes Beyond which will also release in Telugu and Kannada, brings to the forefront the harrowing story of three Hindu girls, played by Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, and Aishwarya Ojha, whose lives take a terrifying turn after they fall in love with three Muslim boys, relationships that gradually reveal a calculated agenda of religious conversion.
The Kerala Story 2- Goes Beyond is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under the banner Sunshine Pictures. The film is slated to release in cinemas on 27th February, 2026.
