Munjya OTT Release Delayed: Bollywood horror comedy movie Munjya hit the theatres on July 7, 2024. The movie, starring Sharvari, Abhay Verma, Mona Singh, and Sathyaraj, grossed an impressive Rs 130 crore (US$16 million) worldwide at the box office, more than quadrupling its production budget of Rs 30 crore (US$3.6 million). However, since its theatrical release, a section of the audience is waiting for its OTT release, but it seems like they have to wait longer.
Munjya Delayed On OTT
If the reports are to be believed, Munjya was all set to make its OTT debut in August 2024. According to a report by Bollywood Life, director Aditya Sarpotdar revealed that the highly anticipated film Munjya is slated to arrive on OTT platform after August, aligning with the industry's standard two-month window for theatrical-to-digital releases.
He also confirmed that Disney Plus Hotstar has acquired the rights to host the film's digital premiere. However, earlier it was speculated that the movie's OTT release details were either bought by Prime Video or Netflix, which turned out to be false.
About Munjya
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film features Abhay Verma, Sharvari Wagh, and Mona Singh in prominent roles. It has garnered a rating of 7.5 on IMDb. The official synopsis describes the plot as follows: "A young man discovers a family secret and encounters a vengeful spirit, Munjya, in his native village, who is determined to find a spouse. Now, he must battle to safeguard himself and his beloved from Munjya's grasp."
In the film Munjya, a chance encounter by a young boy named Bittu (Abhay Verma) sets loose the mischievous spirit of Munjya, which proceeds to wreak chaos in Bittu's life. With an unrelenting passion, Munjya compels Bittu to help reunite it with its long-lost love, Munni.
