Dharmendra died at the age of 89 on November 24, only days before his 90th birthday on December 8, 2025. On Wednesday morning, the renowned actor's ashes were dipped in the hallowed Ganges River in Haridwar's Har Ki Pauri. Sunny, Bobby, Karan, and other family members traveled to Haridwar for the rite on Tuesday. The ashes were immersed in a ghat on Wednesday. Several clips of the same have emerged across social media platforms.

Dharmendra's family members were seen wearing white robes. They were visibly distraught as they immersed actor's ashes and hugged one another. In the video, Bobby Deol appeared to be very distressed as he embraced Karan and other family members assembled at the ghat. Only a few people attended the rites at the ghat.

The Deol family had arrived at Pilibhit House in Haridwar, a century-old palace on the Ganges' banks, to perform Asthi Visarjan. This is the same hotel where the late actor's ashes were kept, as per Indian Express. Following the ceremony, the family traveled for Jolly Grant Airport.

Dharmendra Dies At 89

Dharmendra had been unwell for quite some time before being admitted to the hospital on November 10. He was later released from Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital and was recovering at home. The late legendary actor was cremated in Mumbai on November 25 in with all of his family and film industry associates. Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Akshay Kumar were all seen at the crematorium paying their final respects.

For those who are unaware, two prayer meetings were held for Dharmendra - one by Sunny and Bobby Deol's family, sons of Dharmendra's first wife, Prakash Kaur, and the other by his second wife, Hema Malini and their daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol.

Filmmaker Hamad Al Reyami recently shared his interaction with Hema Malini at the prayer meet, where she expressed her grief that fans could not see Dharmendra for the last time owing to the private funeral. Hema Malini said, as quoted by the filmmaker, "Then she added, with deep sadness, that she regretted his fans hadn’t had the chance to see him one last time. And she said to me in a motherly tone - 'Dharmendra, throughout his life, never wanted anyone to see him weak or ill. He hid his pain even from his closest relatives. And after a person passes away, the decision rests with the family"
