Rapper Badshah faced backlash over his song Tateeree for allegedly objectionable lyrics, prompting him to apologise and remove it from platforms. As per ANI, Haryana Police have also intensified action, taking down hundreds of related links across social media. Authorities have taken a firm stance against the controversial song, removing 857 links so far, including 154 YouTube videos and 703 Instagram reels. The crackdown came after platforms were directed to delete all versions of the track, including re-uploads and short clips.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, Haryana Director General of Police Ajay Singhal issued a strong statement underscoring the state’s zero-tolerance approach toward content that disrespects the dignity of women and minors. He emphasized that any such material circulating on social media platforms will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Highlighting the seriousness of the matter, he warned that accounts found sharing or promoting such content could face immediate action, including being blocked or restricted.
Additional DGP Shibas Kabiraj also urged users to avoid sharing the banned song, cautioning that violations could invite serious legal action and account restrictions.
For the unversed, Badshah collaborated with vocalist Simran Jaglan on the track, with lyrics penned by Badshah and music composed and produced by Hiten. The song’s video was directed by Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu.
Last week, the National Commission for Women summoned Badshah and the makers over allegations of obscenity. The body stated the content appeared objectionable and potentially violated provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the IT Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
