Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi: The narrative arc of Tulsi Virani and her biological son, Ansh Gujral, remains one of the most harrowing and morally complex chapters in Indian television history. The tragedy began with the shocking revelation that Ansh—a man defined by malice and entitlement—was actually Tulsi’s flesh and blood. It was discovered that Kesar’s vengeful ex-lover had essentially 'swapped' or sold Tulsi’s infant to another family, leading to a life where Ansh was raised without the moral compass of the Virani household.
Why did Tulsi shoot Ansh?
Ansh had become a monster in Tulsi's absence. She struggled to pull Ansh back from depravity, but she failed to do so. Tulsi was ultimately forced to face the bitter reality that her efforts were failing against his inherent darkness.
The relationship shattered forever after Ansh brutally assaulted Nandini. Tulsi was haunted by the fact that she was in the same hotel during the crime but couldn't save her daughter-in-law. This guilt turned into a fierce quest for justice; Tulsi cast aside her maternal feelings to stand by Nandini, realising that her son was a dangerous predator who refused to change.
The tragedy ended when the legal system failed to punish Ansh. Seeing him attempt to kidnap a terrified Nandini, Tulsi took the law into her own hands to protect her family. In a shocking move that broke all TV traditions, she shot and killed her own son. It was a final, desperate act to stop his path of destruction and eliminate the evil she felt responsible for bringing into the world.
