The Kerala Story 2 has also been embroiled in controversy, particularly since the release of its teaser last week, much like the previous movie, The Kerala Story, in 2023. A scene in which the protagonist was seen being force-fed beef as part of an Islamic conversion has angered the people of Kerala. The Kerala Story 2 Vipul Amrutlal Shah producer responded to the criticism of the movie from Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The Kerala Story 2 explained that The Kerala Story 2 does not specifically target Kerala as a state when queried about the film's title. He told ANI that the movie discusses a 'evil' that has to be dealt with."We're not after Kerala. Kerala is God's Country... We want this evil in that state to be eradicated as soon as possible."

The Kerala Story 2 producer also discussed the criticism directed at the first movie, which starred Adah Sharma. Prior to the movie's premiere, the producers first asserted that the plot was based on the 'true story of 32,000 females' who were forced to convert to a certain religion.

Vipul Amrutlal Shah shared, "Some people criticised the first film, claiming the 32,000 figure was false. We made a video on this figure on YouTube, which is currently available. We've added the name and shown the figures. The government must have even more figures than we do, but we've never heard of any strict action being taken since the release of the film."

He is also optimistic that The Kerala Story 2 will be released without any problems.

Aditi Bhatia, Ulka Gupta, and Aishwarya Ojha play the three young ladies whose lives took a bad turn after falling in love in the movie. The sequel, according to its creators, intended to deepen the story by concentrating on what they characterised as a systematic program of religious conversion. Under the Sunshine Pictures label, Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Aashin A. Shah backed The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond.

The Kerala Story 2 is scheduled to open in theaters on February 27, 2026.
