About Vettaiyan
Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah’s Lyca Productions, Vettaiyan features a talented cast that includes Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and Ritika Singh. The film follows a government school teacher who uncovers a drug trade, prompting a police officer known for his unorthodox methods to launch an investigation. As the officer delves deeper, he uncovers a complex web of additional crimes linked to the drug trade.
The creators of Vettaiyan are contemplating a prequel, with director Gnanavel recently expressing a keen interest in exploring the theme of police encounter killings.
In a media interaction in Hyderabad, he shared his intention to further develop Athiyan's journey, adding more depth to the existing narrative. Gnanavel noted that the ethical questions surrounding encounter killings—whether they are justified or fabricated—have always fascinated him. After its theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on Prime Video, which has acquired the digital rights for ₹90 crore. The release date for streaming will be announced once the film's box office performance stabilises.
