Agra Metro’s First Corridor To Open In November; Travel Sikandra To Taj East Gate In 28 Minutes

Jagran Correspondent, Agra: The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) team will wind up the work on the first metro corridor of Agra metro by November. Metro services will begin operating from Sikandra Tiraha to Taj East Gate, Fatehabad Road, starting in the second week of November. The 14-kilometre journey will take only 28 minutes.

16 Trains Will Operate Daily

There will be six elevated stations and seven underground stations. 16 metro trains will operate daily. Parking will also be available around all stations.

A 30-km metro corridor is being built in the city. The 14-km corridor will be from Sikandra Tiraha to Taj East Gate, Fatehabad Road, and the 16-km corridor will be from Agra Cantt Railway Station to Kalindi Vihar. Work on both corridors is progressing rapidly.

Recently, a meeting of senior UPMRC officials was held in Lucknow, where it was decided that the metro will begin operating on the first corridor by November instead of December. Initially, 16 metro lines will operate. If passenger numbers increase, the number of metro lines will be increased.

Joint General Manager, Public Relations, Panchanan Mishra, stated that the metro track from Taj East Gate, Fatehabad Road, via Bijlighar Square, to RBS College Station has been completed. The ISBT station will be ready in one to one and a half months. Work on the Guru Ka Tal and Sikandra Tiraha stations will be completed by October, after which metro testing will begin on both tracks.

Focus On National Highway And MG Road

The work on the second metro corridor, from Agra Cantt Railway Station to Kalindi Vihar, is progressing rapidly. The main focus is on the National Highway and MG Road.
