President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated ‘Udyan Utsav 2024’ at the Amrit Udyan in Delhi on Wednesday. The Rashtrapati Bhawan stated that the Amrit Udyan, which was previously called the Mughal Garden, will be opened to the general public from Friday. The entry tickets can be booked online at visit.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in as well as through self-service kiosks placed outside gate no 35.
Amrit Udyan is spread over 15 acres and this time the garden at the President’s estate will showcase over 85 species of flowers besides a floral clock and a selfie point among others. The exquisite garden will remain open for the public from February 2 to March 31 and it will remain open 6 days in the week except Mondays for the maintenance work.
Deputy Press Secretary of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Navika Gupta said that over 50,000 people have already booked their tickets to Amrit Udyan. The key attraction for the visitors will be a theme garden with 42,000 tulips of 18 varieties, which has been developed within the Amrit Udyan and will be displayed for the first time.
The theme garden also has an artistic ‘Amrit Udyan’ garden signature on a raised platform, which is a perfect spot for selfies. Other attractions include a 225-year-old Sheesham tree and a Bonsai garden with over 300 Bonsais, some of which are very old. The statement also mentioned a ‘floral clock’, which is a clock made of flowers that does not move.
"Visitors can carry mobile phones, electronic keys, purses/handbags, water bottles, and milk bottles for infants. Provision for drinking water, toilets and first aid/medical facilities will be made at various places along the public route," the Rashtrapati Bhawan said.
Visitors can book their slots online at visit.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in or through self-service kiosks at gate no 35, which is free of charge. The statement by the Rashtrapati Bhawan said that gate no 35 of the President’s Estate, near the intersection of North Avenue Road and Rashtrapati Bhavan, is the entry and exit point for all visitors.
A shuttle bus service from Central Secretariat Metro Station to gate no 35 of the President’s estate will also run every 30 minutes from 9.30 AM to 5 PM for the convenience of visitors.
