Bengaluru News: Flight disruptions continued at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru as IndiGo cancelled several services for the second consecutive day. On December 3, the airline cancelled 42 domestic flights, including 22 arrivals and 20 departures.
Routes Affected Across Major Cities
Flights scheduled from Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Goa, Kolkata and Lucknow were among the arrivals cancelled. Departures to major destinations such as Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad were also affected, causing inconvenience to many passengers.
IndiGo Cites Multiple Operational Factors
In a statement, IndiGo said that delays and cancellations over the past few days were caused by a mix of technical issues, congestion at airports and operational requirements. The airline added that teams are working to stabilise schedules and are offering refunds or alternative flights to impacted passengers.
IndiGo has advised travellers to check the latest updates on its website before heading to the airport.
In separate news, the Bengaluru CCB Narcotics Wing has stepped up its efforts against drug networks ahead of New Year events, arresting two foreign nationals and recovering narcotics valued at over Rs 28.75 crore in three operations. In one major raid, officials searched a house in Sampigehalli and detained a 29-year-old Tanzanian woman, Nancy Omary, who was allegedly preparing to supply MDMA during the festive season.
Police registered a case under the NDPS Act and seized 9 kg of MDMA crystals, worth nearly Rs 18.5 crore, along with her phone and other materials. Investigators found that she arrived in India on a tourist visa in 2023 and later moved to Bengaluru, working as a hair stylist while allegedly selling drugs. Police say she sourced MDMA cheaply from Delhi and other cities. Further inquiry is ongoing.
