Bengaluru News: There will be certain traffic restrictions and a ban on the sale of liquor in parts of central and east Bengaluru on Sunday in view of the annual feast at the St Mary’s Basilica in Shivajinagar. The feast day sees prayers in different languages at the Basilica and a huge chariot procession of Arogya Mata.

The procession will move from St Mary’s Church through MK Street, Shivaji Road, Broadway Road, Russell Market and Noronha Road, reported The Indian Express. The curbs have been put in place as nearly one lakh people are expected to attend the event.

Bengaluru Traffic Restrictions On Sunday

As per the Bengaluru traffic police, vehicular movement has been prohibited from the Broadway Road to Russell Market, Dharmaraja Koil Street to Russell Market and from BRV Circle to the Shivajinagar bus stand. However, commuters are allowed to travel on Queens Road, Infantry Road and Thimmaiah Road, the IE report added.

Parking of vehicles are allowed on Kamaraj Road, opposite Safina Plaza, Jasma Bhavan Road, RBANMS ground, Main Guard Cross Road and Dickenson Road orphanage.

The city authorities have also decided to ban the sale of liquor on Sunday to maintain the law and order situation. Bengaluru police commissioner has ordered a ban on the alcohol sale at shops, bars, restaurants and wine stores within the limits of Shivajinagar, Commercial Street and the Bharatinagar police stations, the report added.

Traffic Advisory For Ganesh Chaturthi

In view of Ganesha immersion on September 7-9 at Halasuru Lake Kalyani Under Pulakeshinagar Traffic Police Station limits, where more than 40,000 Ganesha idols from different parts of Bengaluru will be immersed, the police has ordered following traffic changes from 04:00 PM to 04:00 AM on the above dates:

Two-way traffic will be temporarily modified on Kensington Road from Kensington- Murphy Road junction via MEG-Halasur Lake. Only one-way traffic will be allowed from the MEG side towards the Kensington-Murphy Road junction. From Tiruvallavar Statue Junction-Annaswamy Modaliyar Road via RBI Junction.

Two-way traffic will be temporarily modified on Annaswamy Modaliyar Road towards Halasuru Lake. Only one-way traffic will be allowed from Halasuru Lake side towards Thiruvallavar Statue Junction.

Traffic Alternative Routes

Vehicles moving from Kensington Road via MEG - towards Halasuru Lake have to take right turn at Gurudwara Junction and via Gangadhara chetti road, Dickenson Road - St. Johns Road Sri Circle - Lavanya Theater Junction - Naga Junction of Pulakeshinagar - Promenade Road- Wheelers Road can move towards Halasuru Lake.

Vehicles moving from Thiruvallavar Statue Junction towords Halasuru lake shall take Gangadhar Chetty road-RBNMS(Left turn) and via Dickenson road.- St. John's Road - Sri Circle - Lavanya Theatre junction - Naga junction and move towards Halasuru Lake.
