Chandigarh Traffic Advisory: Chandigarh Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of Dussehra celebrations on Thursday, announcing diversions and designated parking areas across the city to manage heavy traffic. The advisory applies to major celebration venues, including Parade Ground in Sector 17, Sector 46 Dussehra Ground and Sector 34 Gurdwara.
The department said large gatherings are expected and measures are being put in place to ensure smooth movement. Motorists have been asked to use only designated parking lots and to avoid parking in no-parking zones, cycle tracks or pedestrian pathways. Vehicles parked illegally will be clamped or towed away.

Dussehra 2025: Chandigarh Traffic Advisory And Parking Arrangements
Parade Ground, Sector 17
For visitors attending the Ramlila and Ravan Dahan at Parade Ground, authorised parking will be available at Sector 22-A and Sector 22-B markets, the football ground in Sector 17, front and rear of Neelam Cinema, and the area near the local bus stand in Sector 17.
Traffic approaching ISBT Sector 17 Chowk via Aroma Light Point, 17/18 Light Point, 18/19/20/21 Chowk and Cricket Stadium Chowk will face diversions between 5.30 PM and 6.30 PM. During this period, only buses will be allowed.
Sector 46 Ground
For events in Sector 46, the designated parking areas are Market Parking and Booth Market in Sector 46D. The road from Sector 45/46 Light Point towards Sector 46 will remain closed from 5.30 PM to 7 PM to ease congestion during dispersal.
Sector 34 Gurdwara
Parking for visitors near the gurdwara in Sector 34 will be available at Sabzi Mandi Ground, Shyam Mall, Library Building, Complex Parking and the open ground near Sector 33D Market. Traffic on the road from Sector 34/35 Light Point to Sector 33/34 Light Point will remain closed from 5.30 PM to 7 PM.

Chandigarh Dussehra Celebration: Public Advisory
Chandigarh Police have urged residents to use alternate routes, carpool or walk to nearby venues where possible. The advisory also requested citizens to park efficiently to avoid unnecessary use of space.
“Please remain patient in case of congestion and avoid unnecessary honking. Our teams will be on the ground to reduce delays and manage festival traffic,” the statement said.
Motorists can contact the Chandigarh Traffic Police helpline at 1073 if their vehicle is clamped or towed away.
