Faridabad News: A 66-year-old retired bank manager died after falling from the 14th floor of a housing society in Faridabad on Tuesday morning. Police said the man, identified as Kulwant Singh, was watering plants when a section of the skywalk suddenly gave way, causing him to fall.
The incident occurred around 8 AM at Savana Society in Sector 86, where Singh lived with his wife and son. He had retired from the State Bank of India and was known to regularly care for the potted plants placed on the skywalk that connects towers within the residential complex, as per a News 18 report
According to police, Singh was walking from Tower T-8 to Tower T-7 when a part of the skywalk slab collapsed beneath him. He fell from a considerable height and sustained critical injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
No formal police complaint has been lodged by the family so far. However, residents of the society have alleged that the skywalk structures in the complex are poorly maintained. Some residents claimed that concerns had already been raised with the Resident Welfare Association a week earlier, but no action was taken.
The body has been placed in the mortuary for post-mortem examination. Police officials said further steps will be taken if the victim’s family files a formal complaint.
Authorities are yet to comment on the safety standards of the housing society’s infrastructure. An investigation may follow depending on the post-mortem findings and complaints received.
