In a heinous incident in Gurugram on Wednesday afternoon, an eight-year-old girl who had gone to attend a Kanjak ritual (a Hindu religious tradition) was abducted by a Muslim delivery boy. He took her about five kilometers away from her home, where he raped her. When she screamed, he assaulted her further and fled the scene, leaving her behind.

Upon receiving a complaint of the abduction, five police teams were formed. Nearly 20 hours later, on Thursday morning, the girl was found unconscious at the crime scene. Continuing the investigation, the police arrested the accused later that same afternoon.

A resident of Sector 93 Choki area lodged a complaint with the police at 8:30 pm on Wednesday, stating that his daughter had gone to attend the Kanjak ritual at 11 am that morning but did not return. Once the matter reached senior officials, five police teams were formed. A case of abduction was filed the same night, and nearby residents were questioned. During the inquiry, it was revealed that a young man on a green scooter had taken the girl with him.

Case Filed Under POCSO Act

Police teams searched the area and reviewed CCTV footage throughout the night. Around 9 am on Thursday, the girl was found unconscious at the crime scene in Sector 95, five kilometers from her home. Her condition was critical, and she was immediately rushed to the hospital. A medical examination confirmed that the girl had been raped and physically assaulted. A case was then registered under Section 6 of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and other relevant sections.

Criminal Record Found Of Accused

ACP West, Abhilakshya Joshi, stated that after the girl was found, CCTV footage from the area was reviewed to identify and trace the accused. By Thursday afternoon, the accused was arrested from Sector 83. The 21-year-old accused belongs to the Muslim community and worked as a delivery boy for a private company.

According to police interrogation, on Wednesday afternoon, the accused lured the girl by pretending to offer her food outside a house. He then abducted her and committed the assault, after which he fled, leaving the girl at the scene. During questioning, the accused also revealed that before abducting this girl, he had picked up two other children from the same area but later released them and only took the eight-year-old with him.
