Hilsa Fish Price: With the ongoing tensions in Bangladesh and India giving shelter to former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, the Yunus government is taking new decisions on a regular basis, overturning many of Hasina's decisions. Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja, Bangladesh took a massive decision that will have an impact on India.

Ban On Export Of Hilsa Fish: The Bangladesh government has imposed a ban on the export of Hilsa fish. The decision, which came a few days before Durga Puja, will have a great impact on the Bengali people. After this decision, the price of Hilsa i.e. Bangladeshi Ilish's price (called in Bengali) has witnessed a massive spike in Bengal and now one has to spend more money to buy fish.

The Bangladesh government issued clarification this decision and said that this decision has been taken to ensure an adequate supply of Hilsa (Bangladesh ilish fish) for the local people. Farida Akhtar, advisor to the Bangladesh Fisheries and Livestock Ministry, said that if the export ban was not imposed, the prices of hilsa in the country would have increased significantly.

Notably, 70 per cent of Ilish fish is produced only in Bangladesh, due to which the neighboring country benefits a lot.

When Sheikh Hasina led the Bangladesh government, the export of Hilsa fish was easy. However, Hilsa coming from Bangladesh is now coming to India via Myanmar. But now customers will have to spend more money on it. A few months ago, the price of one kg of Hilsa was up to Rs 1,800, which has now reached Rs 2,400.

Recently, Bangladesh Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has said that Sheikh Hasina making political remarks on Bangladesh in India is an "unfriendly gesture", adding that Hasina should remain silent and refrain from making political remarks until she's in India.

"Sheikh Hasina making political remarks on Bangladesh in India is an "unfriendly gesture". If India wants to keep Hasina until Bangladesh wants her back, the condition would be she has to keep quiet," Yunus told PTI.
