Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that several districts of Himachal Pradesh are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next three to four days. The weather department stated that more than 400 roads have been blocked in several districts due to the continuous rainfall. It further informed that apart from rainfall, multiple districts are also expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. The IMD has advised the residents and tourists to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
Himachal Rain: Several roads get blocked
- The continuous rainfall has caused landslides in several areas, leading to blockage of key roads. While providing details, the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) stated that a total of 455 roads have been blocked, including three national highways (NH-305, NH-05 and NH-707).
- The department further stated that the worst affected district in terms of road blockages is Kullu where 73 roads are closed, followed by Mandi with 58 roads, and Shimla with 58 roads.
Himachal Rain: Electricity supply gets disrupted
- The authorities informed that power supply has also been affected in multiple districts due to the continuous rainfall. The HPSDMA stated that 681 distribution transformers (DTRs) have been disrupted due to the poor weather conditions. While providing details, it stated that while 145 DTRs have been disrupted in Kullu, 63 are disrupted in Shimla.
- The department also stated that traffic has been affected due to flash floods, damaged lines and fallen treesin Kullu.
- The government on Saturday stated that 247 people have lost their lives and 329 have been injured in the past two months. While providing details, the authorities stated that Kangra district recorded the highest number of 28 fatalities, followed by Mandi at 26 and Hamirpur at 13.
