Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated that the weather in Northern states is likely to change from Monday. It said that Delhi-NCR and several regions of Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming 2-3 days. It also confirmed that the fresh spell of rain will cause a significant dip in the temperature.
The weather department on Sunday forecast that Delhi-NCR will receive light rainfall in the upcoming two days, leading to a dip in the temperature. It stated that a western disturbance will lead to a fresh spell of rain in the upcoming days. Even though the usual temperature in January in the national capital was higher in comparison to previous years, the winter is not over yet.

The weather department also said that dense fog is likely to persist in the capital city for a few more days. Several of the trains and flights operating from Delhi got delayed in the last few weeks because of dense fog, especially in the early hours of the day.
The IMD has also issued an alert for significant weather change in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It said that a western disturbance will get activated in Himachal on Monday, leading to snowfall and rain in several districts. It also said that the dense fog will impact the visibility in the hilly regions.
The weather department emphasised that the western disturbance will have its most impact on Monday. Apart from this, several districts are expected to receive a fresh spell of rainfall on Wednesday too. Similar weather conditions are also expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand.

The weather department has also forecast that several districts of Punjab and Haryana are likely to experience rain in the upcoming two to three days. The IMD clarified that dense fog will impact visibility in the upcoming days.
States like Bihar and Jharkhand are already dealing with dense fog and cold waves; however, the western disturbance might lead to a fresh spell of rain in these states too.
