Kerala Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that several districts of Kerala are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that the central and southern districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall. Apart from this, the other districts are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall till July 29. The rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that the coastal regions of the state are likely to witness heavy rainfall, along with lightning and thunderstorms. Apart from this, the National Oceanographic Research Center has informed that there is a possibility of sea erosion on the coasts. The weather department stated that several districts, including Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram, are likely to receive rainfall on July 26.

It further stated that Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod are likely to receive rainfall on July 27. The weather department stated that the other districts, including Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, are set to witness rainfall on July 28, further adding that Kannur and Kasaragod are likely to witness rainfall on July 29.

In a separate advisory, the weather department stated that fishing should not be allowed in the coastal regions of Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu for the next few days. The IMD has advised the fishermen to limit their financial activities during the rainfall to avoid any inconveniences. The weather department also stated that several key cities are also likely to witness waterlogging and power outages due to the continuous rainfall.
