Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has ruled out gangrape in the death of the 31-year trainee doctor whose body was found inside the seminar hall of state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata last month, reports by various news outlets said on Friday.

Sources cited by NDTV said that the available evidence indicates only Sanjay Roy, the sole accused arrested so far, was involved in the rape and murder. Meanwhile, News18 reported that his DNA matched with the sample collected from the victim's body. Both reports claimed that the CBI, which took over the investigation from Kolkata Police after an intervention by the Calcutta High Court, will soon file the charge sheet in the horrific case.

Sanjay Roy, who was a civic volunteer with Kolkata Police at the time of the alleged rape and murder of the woman doctor, was set to be produced virtually before a Kolkata court on Friday afternoon as his 14-day judicial custody was coming to an end. Considering the security aspect amid rising and continuing public rage in the rape-murder case, the prison authorities decided to present him virtually, sources cited by news agency IANS said.
