Flight operations from different cities to Patna were either diverted or delayed on Wednesday due to thick fog and poor visibility. While one of the flights from Kolkata was diverted to Varanasi, others got delayed for several hours, leading to panic and frustration among the passengers. The Patna airport authority stated that the necessary steps were taken to ensure the safety of the passengers, adding that the situation is likely to be normal in the upcoming days.
While providing details, the authorities informed that IndiGo flight 6E713 from Kolkata was diverted to Varanasi as it could not land in Patna due to the poor visibility. The passengers were safely transported from Varanasi and given information about further arrangements, the authority added. Apart from the flight from Kolkata, several other services also got affected due to the poor weather.

The authority stated that IndiGo’s flight 6E2043 from Mumbai arrived in Patna 36 minutes late due to the low visibility, adding that flight 6E6277 from Bengaluru arrived 24 minutes late. The passengers, while expressing their disappointment and frustration, stated that they were not given any prior information regarding the change in the schedule.
Apart from this, the flights operating from Patna to other cities also got delayed for several minutes due to the poor weather. The officials stated that several flight services, including Flight 6E805 to Bengaluru, Flight 6E126 to Pune, and Flight 6E2167 to Mumbai, were delayed by more than half an hour, leading to the inconveniences to the passengers.
The officials stated that the decision was taken to ensure the safety of the passengers, adding that the flights will operate at their scheduled time once the visibility improves. “Passenger safety is always the top priority. Flights can only land or take off once visibility improves,” one of the officials was quoted as saying.
