Mamata Banerjee Injuries
This is the second stance in the past six weeks when the Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has suffered an injury. Earlier on March 14, the 69-year-old Trinamool Congress supremo fell inside her Kalighat residence in Kolkata, sustaining injuries to her forehead and nose. She had received stitches and was later discharged from the hospital.
During Banerjee's forehead injury, the All India Trinamool Congress had shared photos of her on a hospital bed with a deep cut in the middle of her forehead and blood on her face. The SSKM Hospital's Director had initially suggested the injury was caused by "some push from behind." Following this, it had widespread speculations on how she fell. However, police confirmed that no complaint was registered in connection to the incident.
In March 2021, Mamata Banerjee suffered a ligament injury while campaigning in Nandigram for the assembly elections. Despite that, she continued her campaign trail, navigating in a wheelchair with her leg in a plaster cast.
Additionally, in June last year, the Bengal Chief Minister faced another injury when her left knee and hip were affected during an emergency helicopter landing at the Sevoke airbase in North Bengal. Following the incident, she was admitted to SSKM Hospital, where doctors diagnosed fluid accumulation in her left knee joint and a ligament injury in the left hip joint.
