Dinesh Katoch, Dharmshala: The centre on Friday released the names of six Indian armed forces personnel who lost their lives in action during Operation Sindoor, a key cross-border operation to destroy the terror sites in Pakistan. The names of the brave army personnel have been added to the Roll of Honour on the National War Memorial website and engraved on Wall 3D of the National War Memorial in New Delhi.

'Gave His Life For The Nation'

While talking to Jagran, Sushma Jaryal, wife of Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, one of the six martyrs, stated that her husband gave his life for the nation. She stated that while the news of his martyrdom was painful, it has inspired the family and has filled it with a sense of pride. Jaryal further suggested that every young person should join the army and serve the nation.

"The moments of losing him were certainly painful, but now I have the satisfaction of knowing that my husband's name is forever associated with the great heroes of our country. If my children also want to join the army, she will give them her full consent and blessings. I even tell the young people around me that there is no greater religion than serving the country, and every young person should join the army and work for the nation's defense," Jaryal said.

Pround Of My Son: Martyr's Father

Havildar Garaj Singh, the martyr's father, stated that his son achieved something that he could not in his entire life. "Pawan has attained immortality in the defense of the country. What I could not achieve in my military career, my son has accomplished. I am proud of my son," Singh said.

Subedar Major Pawan Kumar Jariyal was martyred on May 9, 2025, while retaliating against Pakistani shelling in the Poonch (Krishna Ghati) sector of Jammu and Kashmir. He was a soldier of the 25 Punjab Regiment and was posted to 10 Brigade at the time.
